Introduction 

Sajek: Sajek Valley is an emerging tourist spot in Bangladesh situated among the hills of Kasalong range of mountains in Sajek union, Baghaichhari Upazila in Rangamati District. The valley is officially 1800 feet (unofficially 2100 feet) above sea level. Sajek valley is known as the Queen of Hills & Roof of Rangamati.

The name of Sajek Valley came from Sajek River that originates from Karnafuli river. Sajek river works as a border between Bangladesh and India. Sajek valley is famous for its natural beauty. The valley is surrounded by mountains, dense forest, grasslands hilly tracks. Many small rivers flow through the mountains among which Kachalong and March along are notable. On the way to Sajek valley, one has to cross the Mayni range and Mayni river. The road to Sajek has high picks and falls.

The native people of Sajek valley are ethnic minorities. Among them Lusai, Chakma, Marma, Tripura, and Pankhua are mentionable. Women seem to be more involved in economic activities here. Tea stalls, food joints, and roadside marketplaces are dominated by women. People, in general, are gentle, welcoming and friendly. Picking fruits and vegetables early in the morning is a major trade here. They are not fluent in Bengali but the young population speaks English confidently.

Khagrachhari: Khagrachhari is a district in south-eastern Bangladesh. It is a part of the Chittagong Division and the Chittagong Hill Tracts. Its local name is “Chengmi”, also known as “Phalang Htaung”. The nickname of Khagrachhari is “The Queen of Natural Beauty” or “The City of Valleys”.

Khagrachari is a hilly area. It is bounded by the Tripura state of India on the north, Rangamati and Chittagong districts on the south, Rangamati district on the east, Chittagong District and Tripura state of India on the west. Notable hill ranges are Golamoon, Chotto Panchari, Karmi Mura, Lutiban, Kuradia, Bhanga Mura, Jopisil. It has three rivers, namely Chengi, Feni and Maini. Chengi is the longest river in Khagrachhari.The main ethnic groups living in the district are Tripuris, Chakmas, Bengalis and Marmas.

Khagrachhari district consist of 3 Paurashava,9 Upzila/Thana,38 Union,122 Mauza,27 Ward,153 Mahalla and 1,702 Villages.The upazilas are Dighinala, Khagrachhari Sadar, Lakshmichhari, Mahalchhari, Manikchhari, Matiranga, Panchhari,Ramgarh and Guimara.
